Me and Math
Growing up in school I hated math, like the English class like speech class, and Phys. Ed hated math. I was got busted for what they call careless mistakes. I was trying to do things too fast. Just never had an aptitude for math.
I remember Mr. Boreman, Daniel Boreman in middle school we had the math-a-thon and I got sponsored for that for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and we have math magazines. It’s totally agree where when we had I think it was Physics and Trig together. I couldn’t do the math but if we had a pulley to the rope and ran a wood cart it off the side of the lab table, I had a solid understanding of that worked so I could I did really good in Physics but horrible with Trig and they were paired together so that you would learn concurrently what she needed to get through both courses.
I like Excel so that doesn’t explain much again. I guess it’s more than mechanics of it. When I was out the other day I saw a place called Mathnasium it’s like a math tutoring Skill Center. And you know makes me think of examination day it was a 1985 The Twilight Zone episode starring David Mendenhall, in which he was sent to an examination center. And basically the irony is if you pass the test, they killed you. If you’re too smart, they killed you. They euthanized you as a kid.
That was every parent’s fear was that the kid was too smart. But that’s what I was thinking Mathnasium I think I would go in there and never come out alive. So yeah, just never been a math person.
