Low Cost Car Upgrades DIY

Today I want to share what I have in place in terms of car upgrades – it’s very inexpensive.

I have a device called the T-Mobile sync and go. It tracks trips and disturbances to my car then notifies my phone or iPad via app. I also have an air tag stowed away in the car. That way the app alerts me and then I watch the car on my iPad via ‘Find My…’ app. It’s a great combination and only requires the On-board diagnostics (OBD) device, an added data line from a wireless carrier, and an air tag (or other alternative tracker for non-Apple users – Tile, Chipolo, Samsung SmartTag, etc.).

I do get to see this device combination in action from time to time. Mostly I see it when I when I drop my car off for service that I see this play out – I get a disturbance or trip notification from the OBD device and then launch the ‘Find My..’ app to see if the car has moved and if so where. This is usually followed by a call from the car servicer notifying me my car is ready.
